Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Adults in Tennessee

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is Phase III of addiction treatment at Mirror Lake Recovery Center. Similar to residential care (Phase II), clients take part in daily activities, but they have the flexibility to return home at the end of each treatment day.

Partial Hospitalization

Phase 3

  • For clients who need care in a structured environment
  • Additional flexibility for personal time
  • Programming may be 7 days per week

What Does Our Partial Hospitalization Program Treat?

Mirror Lake’s partial hospitalization program treats adults age 18 and older who are struggling with a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder.

We also treat the following co-occurring mental health concerns:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depression
  • Psychosis
  • Self-harming behaviors

What Therapies Are Included?

Depending on a client’s unique needs and therapeutic goals, their treatment plan might include the following elements:

Medication Management

Medication management services can significantly improve someone’s ability to achieve long-term recovery. Clients who can benefit from medication management services at Mirror Lake meet with a medical provider at least once each week, with additional sessions available as needed. Nurses and nurse practitioners are also available to provide medication management services on a daily basis.

Individual Therapy

In our PHP, clients can take part in individual therapy sessions on a weekly basis. Individual counseling sessions offer clients a confidential space where they can explore topics that might be unsuitable for group settings. In these sessions, clients can set short-term goals, learn healthy coping skills, and make recovery-related decisions.

Group Therapy

Throughout their time in Phase III, clients have the opportunity to participate in group therapy sessions on a daily basis. In a small-group environment and under the guidance of an experienced counselor, clients can learn from the experiences of others who are working through similar challenges and address behavioral and emotional concerns that are related to the recovery process. Common topics discussed in group therapy sessions at Mirror Lake include principles of recovery, healthy communication skills, stress management, and relapse prevention strategies.

Family Therapy

The effects of addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders can impact every member of the family. Every Sunday, clients and their loved ones are invited to take part in virtual family therapy sessions with a qualified counselor. These sessions can help family members improve their relationships with one another and gain valuable emotion regulation skills. Family members are then able to provide more meaningful support for the client once they complete treatment.

Experiential Therapy

Clients who are in Phase III have multiple opportunities to participate in experiential therapy sessions, such as yoga, art, and equine therapies. The benefits of experiential therapy may include expressing and addressing feelings through art, learning relaxation techniques, improving communication skills, and discovering alternative ways of dealing with problems, setbacks, and challenges.

Faith-Based Treatment Track

The ReNew Christian Program is a voluntary treatment track for clients who wish to incorporate Christian principles and values into their treatment. The ReNew Christian Program features weekly process groups that combine Christian beliefs with evidence-based, psychological principles to treat the whole person — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Activities include daily worship and prayer, Bible study, meditation, and Celebrate Recovery meetings.

What Happens After Partial Hospitalization Treatment?

Once a client has completed our partial hospitalization program and is prepared to finish treatment at Mirror Lake Recovery Center, we will continue to provide them with support through our aftercare program.
