The medically monitored detoxification program at New Life Lodge provides 24/7 medical and nursing supervision to help the patient withdraw from alcohol and/or drugs in an expeditious and safe manner. The length of stay in the Detoxification Program is variable and highly individualized. The Medical Director is a physician who follows the New Lodge Life criteria for admission into this program. The physician focuses on the absence of withdrawal symptomatology, stability of vital signs, and the concomitant education of the patient.
Patients in this program are strongly encouraged to attend therapeutic and group activities, getting the most out of their treatment stay while minimizing isolation.
The treatment team is cognizant of the multitude of somatic concerns often expressed by the patient in detoxification but also recognizes the importance of therapeutic interaction in combating distorted thinking often seen in this population.
